Quote for the day

"Should the pope resign? No. As the College of Cardinals must have recognized when they elected him, he is perfectly - ideally - qualified to lead the Roman Catholic Church. A leering old villain in a frock, who spent decades conspiring behind closed doors for the position he now holds; a man who believes he is infallible and acts the part; a man whose preaching of scientific falsehood is responsible for the deaths of countless AIDS victims in Africa; a man whose first instinct when his priests are caught with their pants down is to cover up the scandal and damn the young victims to silence: in short, exactly the right man for the job. He should not resign, moreover, because he is perfectly positioned to accelerate the downfall of the evil, corrupt organization whose character he fits like a glove, and of which he is the absolute and historically appropriate monarch. No, Pope Ratzinger should not resign. He should remain in charge of the whole rotten edifice - the whole profiteering, woman-fearing, guilt-gorging, truth-hating, child-raping institution - while it tumbles, amid a stench of incense and a rain of tourist-kitsch sacred hearts and preposterously crowned virgins, about his ears."

I have been screaming for his resignation Infidel. After reading your most excellent piece I think I am going to relax my lips. I would like to post this at my place tomorrow, with attribution of course. Is that OK?

Mike: Fine with me. These are Dawkins's words, not mine -- you can get to the original source by clicking his name at the end of the quote.

A fine choice for "quote of the day" .... Dr.Dawkins is well with word's, and know's how to paint the picture (although better as a scientist) .... he's no dummy when it come's to the scam's and motive's of these mega entities such as the Vatican or any of the other's. I think he is a fair man as well, considering all the static some of these folk's have gave him.

RC: Very true -- I'm reading one of his science books right now (The Ancestor's Tale). And when it comes to current events, like this, he knows evil when he sees it.

Christ's Vicar on earth might be doing a little less traveling, just in case some sharp attorney goes after him for aiding and abetting.

Dawkin's words rang true. In the end I hope the church is diminished to a Hallelujah tent in Des moine's

Repost. Messed up my first one for a change. ; )

It's a smart man who says exactly what I think! Dawkins really is incredibly brilliant and a refreshingly good writer. Thanks for this wonderful quote.

Yowza... Seems Dawkins does not like the Pope and the Catholic church, huh.

Glad he told us how he feels. ;)

HE: I don't expect to see this, but it would be interesting if Germany and Wisconsin were to issue warrants for his arrest as an accessory to felonies, then ask any country he visits to extradite him.

Tim: I'd rather see the hierarchy reduced to a road-side work crew in orange overalls.

Yep.....people just won't give child molesters a break these days.
