Secondhand smoke

The American Lung Association has a great fact sheet on this subject. I tried to link to it before, but the link always redirected to their main page. Here's how to get to the fact sheet.

Click here for the main page;

In the row of options in blue at the top, click on "Quit Smoking", then "All about Smoking";

The secondhand smoke fact sheet is the third item on the list.

Excellent resource! Thank you for posting this! Here is the url I wound up at, and hopefully that link won't start doing exactly what you said was happening- lol. Really, people ought to be able to smoke if they choose to fatten the Philip Morris pocketbook with their lives, but that doesn't mean others should be forced to breathe the poisons. That's a pretty strong reason for banning smoking in restaurants, bars and the like. Kids shouldn't be breathing the toxins from their parents' smokes either.

Thanks. I tried linking to that URL, but it always redirected back to the home page. I don't know why.

If you don't regularly read conservative or libertarian websites, you may not know this, but it is fairly common to see people there flatly assert that secondhand smoke causes no harm at all, and that laws against workplace smoking are thus just unjustifiable nanny-statism. It's of a piece with the denial some of them show about global warming and evolution. I wanted to have some empirical evidence to hand for when such discussions arise.
